As you can see from my other posts that I love warm grays, true grays, and grays with blue/green undertones. When it was time to pick a paint color for our master bedroom, I decided to go with Sherwin Williams Silver Strand 7057. I wanted a paint color that would go along with the rest of the house but also had a more relaxing retreat element. Silver Strand was just what I was looking for!

This paint color is very dynamic based on lighting and color pairing. Our bedroom faces south and depending on the weather, the room can trend towards three different colors:

  • In a lot of natural light, the color tends to be more of a blue/green gray.
  • On a cloudy day, the room will trend more blue gray
  • In the evening it shows as more of a true gray.

Silver Strand is definitely considered a “moody” paint color. Since the most prominent color for our south facing room is the blue/green gray, I decided to pair it with accents that are gray/blue, blush, as well as creams/whites to add to the brightness. These colors together create a calming and dreamy space which is perfect for a relaxing get away spot to read or have quiet time.

We also used Silver Strand in our den and it has a very different feel in a west facing room. The color in the den is more of a true silver blue gray or true gray depending on the light.

Sherwin Williams Silver Strand – Office

I’m here to unveil a newfound treasure: Sherwin-Williams Silver Strand (SW 7057). This dreamy gray paint color isn’t your average neutral. It possesses a subtle magic, offering a calming and peaceful atmosphere that instantly transports you to a serene oasis.

A Color Review: Unveiling the Nuances of Silver Strand

Silver Strand, upon first glance, appears as a light and airy gray. But beneath its seemingly simple facade lies a captivating complexity. Depending on the lighting and surrounding elements, hints of cool blue or soft green peek through, adding depth and intrigue to the space. This chameleon-like quality makes Silver Strand incredibly versatile, adapting to various design styles and creating a unique ambiance in every room.

Here’s a breakdown of Silver Strand’s key characteristics:

  • Light Reflectance Value (LRV): With an LRV of 59, Silver Strand falls squarely in the mid-tone range. It’s neither too light nor too dark, making it perfect for creating a sense of spaciousness and openness in smaller rooms while still maintaining a grounded feel in larger spaces.
  • Undertones: The magic lies in the undertones! Silver Strand’s cool blue and green hints create a calming and serene atmosphere. This makes it an ideal choice for bedrooms, bathrooms, home offices, and any space where relaxation and focus are desired.
  • Versatility: Don’t be fooled by its name – Silver Strand isn’t just for cool-toned spaces! The subtle undertones allow it to work beautifully with both warm and cool color palettes. Looking to create a modern-minimalist haven? Silver Strand pairs flawlessly with crisp white accents and pops of black. Craving a touch of coastal charm? Introduce light blues, seafoam greens, and natural textures like woven baskets and driftwood for a tranquil escape.

My Silver Strand Journey: Transforming My Bedroom and Home Office

For years, my bedroom and home office lacked a certain “retreat appeal”. The bedroom felt sterile and uninviting, while the home office exuded a harsh, uninspiring energy. I craved calming spaces that encouraged relaxation and focus, but the stark white walls did little to create that ambiance. Enter Silver Strand!

Bedroom Bliss: A Haven for Rest and Rejuvenation

The transformation of my bedroom with Silver Strand was nothing short of remarkable. The cool gray instantly created a sense of tranquility, inviting me to unwind and de-stress after a long day. The subtle green undertones added a touch of nature’s calming energy, further enhancing the feeling of peacefulness.

Here are some key details about how I used Silver Strand Sherwin Williams in my bedroom:

  • Wall Color: Three walls were painted in Silver Strand, creating a cohesive and calming envelope. The remaining wall served as an accent wall, adorned with a soft pastel floral wallpaper that picked up on the green undertones of the paint color.
  • Bedding and Accents: Crisp white bedding with a light blue accent stripe provided a luxurious and airy feel, complementing the Silver Strand walls. Woven throws and textured pillows in shades of cream and beige added warmth and dimension to the space.
  • Lighting: I opted for warm white LED lighting to further enhance the calming atmosphere. The warm light counterbalanced the cool tones of the Silver Strand walls, creating a balanced and inviting space.

The result? A bedroom that feels like a luxurious spa retreat, a haven for rest and rejuvenation.

  • Wall Color: Similar to the bedroom, Silver Strand graced all four walls of the home office. This created a sense of continuity and promoted a focused environment.
  • Furniture and Accents: A sleek, light wood desk paired perfectly with the Silver Strand walls. Woven baskets and natural wood shelving added warmth and storage solutions. Pops of color were introduced through artwork featuring vibrant greens and blues, reflecting the subtle undertones of the paint color.
