At East Third Street, you know I’m obsessed with warm grays and dreamy hues with blue-green undertones throughout our house. When it was time to choose a paint color for our master bedroom, I wanted something that went with the other tones throughout the house. After looking through countless swatches, I found the perfect match: Sherwin Williams Silver Strand 7057. This dreamy hue is everything I wanted for our master bedroom. It has soft, silvery tones with subtle green-blue undertones make the room feel calm and relaxing. Let’s look at why Silver Strand was the best option for our bedroom makeover and how it be part of your next DIY project!
Silver Strand (SW 7057): Color Basics
This paint color is very dynamic based on lighting and color pairing. Our bedroom faces south and depending on the weather, the room can trend towards three different colors:
- In a lot of natural light, the color tends to be more of a blue/green gray.
- On a cloudy day, the room will trend more blue gray
- In the evening it shows as more of a true gray.

Silver Strand is definitely considered a “moody” paint color. Since the most prominent color for our south facing room is the blue/green gray, I decided to pair it with accents that are gray/blue, as well as creams/whites to add to the brightness. These colors together create a calming and dreamy space which is perfect for a relaxing spot to enjoy.
We also used Silver Strand in our den and it has a very different feel in a west facing room. The color in the den is more of a true silver blue gray or true gray depending on the light.

SW Silver Strand Color Review
Silver Strand, upon first glance, appears as a light and airy gray, but it actual has a lot more color depth. Depending on the lighting and surrounding elements, hints of cool blue or soft green peek through. This can change the look of your room throughout the day. This quality makes Silver Strand incredibly versatile, so it works well with various design styles and color pairings.
Here’s a breakdown of Silver Strand’s key characteristics:
- Light Reflectance Value (LRV): With an LRV of 59, Silver Strand falls squarely in the mid-tone range. It’s neither too light nor too dark, making it perfect for any size space.
- Undertones: The magic lies in the undertones! Silver Strand’s cool blue and green hints create a different feel than a plain grey paint color. This makes it an ideal choice for bedrooms, bathrooms, home offices, where you are carrying through grey tones, but can mix it up with the undertones.
- Versatility: Don’t be fooled by its name – Silver Strand isn’t just for cool-toned spaces! The subtle undertones allow it to work beautifully with both warm and cool color palettes. Looking to create a modern-minimalist haven? Silver Strand pairs flawlessly with crisp white accents and pops of black. What about a touch of coastal charm?
