When it’s time gather your baby girl nursery ideas to get ready for the new baby, a simple accent wall is an easy project to add design and color to the room! If you don’t have time, or the know how (like me) to make an accent wall using tools, saws, and wood, you can opt for an easy striped wall that is just as adorable (and a lot easier!) Follow these simple steps to start your striped accent wall for your new nursery or any other space in your home that needs a quick makeover.
How to Make a Striped Accent Wall
Supplies:
- Painter’s Tape
- Level
- Measuring Tape
- Paint Brush/Roller
- Paint
How to Get Started
Step 1: Decide on your paint colors. Whether you are using the base color on the wall as one of the stripes or if you are going to be painting both spaces of your taped lines.
Step 2: Measure your wall. Divide the space by how many stripes you want to have total. Pick an odd number so the color is the same at both ends.
Step 2: Once you know the width of each stripe, use a level to lightly draw a straight vertical line down the wall. You will then use painters tape to outline your vertical stripes. Make sure your stripes are the same width by checking several spots with your measuring tape. Mark each area lightly with an X so it’s easier to identify which space you are painting.
Step 3: Time to paint! Edge each area with a paint brush (the wall space near the ceiling and the molding).
Step 4: Use a roller to fill in the rest of the space. You might need two coats of paint depending on the color.
Step 5: After the paint has dried, remove you tape! How easy was that?!
